Website personalization

You want to use saved profile information to personalize individual elements of a website.

The following individualizations can be made:

• Link individualizations (target group oriented website links)
• Image individualizations (target group oriented images)
• Download individualizations (download link with target group oriented PDF documents)
• CSS customizations (depending on the age of a person, use appropriate colors and font sizes on the website)

In this example, the target group women (salutation = woman) should be shown an individual picture on the homepage. All other visitors are shown the standard picture.

Required objects

Create a new target group and configure it. In our example, a target group for women (salutation = woman). Then create a SmartLink to display the target group-specific Web content (image). For more information, see the articles Target Groups and SmartLinks. Integrate the SmartLink into the website at the point where you want to display the individual content.

Procedure

Save the target group-specific images and a standard image on a web server or in the system. You need the standard image so that this image is displayed when the page is called by someone who is not in the defined target group.

Create target group

Create a new target group in order to be able to adapt the contents of the website to the target group.

Create Smartlink

Insert two targets into SmartLink, one target with the image for the target audience (women), and one target (fallback) with an image for viewers who are not in any of the target audience. For the target group image, the target group (women) must also be inserted so that only profiles from this target group can display the image.

All profiles that are in the target group will be shown the image intended for this purpose.

If there is already an image on your website that is to be replaced, replace the URL of the current image on the website with the integration URL of the smart link. If the system is able to determine a clear target group affiliation when the link is called, it redirects the viewer to the stored link, otherwise the standard link is used.
