Target groups can be understood as filters. A profile is not assigned directly to a target group. The profiles are only searched and restricted by a target group on the basis of their characteristics. Several target groups can contain the same profile. Each modification of a profile can influence the affiliation to a target group immediately.
- Contacts - also called profiles - are located in the Profiles folder of the data pool.
- Target groups are subsets of one or more data pools, but can also include all profiles or not a single profile.
- When you create a target group, you define selection criteria for selecting contacts from the data pool.
- A target group is dynamic - new contacts that match the selection criteria are automatically assigned to that target group.
- When a mailing is sent to a target group, the system selects from the contacts that are in the data pool at the time the mailing is sent.
To create a new audience
To create a new target group, click in the folder navigation on the folder Target groups and in the appearing list view on the button + New. Then select the item Target group.
Target groups can be created in the Target groups folder with a click on + New.
Give the target group an internal name, add a meaningful description if necessary, and then click Save. This creates the target group with the name you assigned, and the system displays a preview of the target group. Since you have not yet defined any selection criteria, no contacts in the data pool are assigned to the target group.
In order to better understand the configuration of the target group, please describe the target group as precisely as possible.
Since the target group is not yet configured, there are no profiles in the target group. Click on Configuration to configure the target group.
Target group configuration
Under the Configuration tab, first select a data pool to be accessed by the target group.
- First, you must select a pool to be accessed by the target group.
- You then select the selection criteria for the contacts to be selected from the data pool. To do this, click on the Edit button.
- The default configuration appears: All entries in the pool are true.
Select the corresponding selection criterion - as an example, salutation. Then determine which property the criterion should have. Use the dropdown menus to do this. In this example, the address should be master. Then click on the Save button.
Criteria, properties and link operators of a target group
In the target group configuration, you can combine the selection criteria of the target group.
The criteria are linked using the four Boolean operators and, or, and not, or not.
AND (conjunction)
The expression is only true if both partial expressions are true.
OR (disjunction)
The expression is already true if a partial expression is true.
AND NOT
The expression is only true if both partial expressions are true. Attention: the 2nd expression is true if the condition is NOT true. In the example above, this applies to all places that do NOT contain Munich.
OR NOT
The expression is already true if a partial expression is true. Attention: the 2nd expression is true if the condition is NOT true. In the above example, this applies to all places that do NOT contain Munich.
You can use parentheses to give preference to combinations of different selection criteria.
If a criterion is no longer needed, you can delete it with the - button. You can add a criterion with the + button. After you have set everything up, click on Save to accept the changes.
Profiles of the target group
The Profiles tab contains a list of all contacts from the data pool whose criteria correspond to the target group. In this case, it was the salutation and location.
By clicking on Edit you can view the details of the profile. Under Details, you can view all of the recipient's activities, such as received/open emails, completed forms, entries/deregistrations, and so on. By clicking on the Scoring-icon , you can call up the scoring values for each individual profile.
The basic configuration is divided into three tabs: Basic data, internal and without assignment. Individual tabs can be combined individually.
Basic data tab: Here you will find information such as name, address, eMail address and telephone number.
Internal tab: This tab contains information such as permission, hardbounces, entry form, date of modification...
Tab without assignment: All fields that have not been assigned to a category are displayed here.
Please note!
If a recipient unsubscribes, he will not be sent any more. If this profile is then deleted from the pool, the history of the profile is also deleted. If the recipient registers for the newsletter again, the original history is unfortunately lost.
