Unsubscribe option via list unsubscribe
Email mailbox providers such as Google, Microsoft or GMX offer your customers the option to cancel newsletter subscriptions without having to open the mail or search for an unsubscribe option.
For this purpose, a "List-Unsubscribe" entry is added to the header area of the e-mailings.
This list unsubscribe usually uses the system's default logoff, as it is done with {$GRANT_URL}.
Transactional Mailing
If it is a transactional e-mailing, which does not require an unsubscribe link because no promotional content is sent, no unsubscribe link needs to be provided in the mail header.
This can be configured in the system by checking the "eMailing Header"/"Use as Transactional Mail" option in the eMailing template. All new e-mailings based on this template will be transactional e-mailings without the unsubscribe option in the header.
If an e-mail is used as a transactional e-mail, a "list help link" must be specified instead of the "list unsubscribe link". The URL for the "List-Help-Link" has to point to a website that explains the purpose of this transaction mail. The URL for the "List-Help-Link" is specified in the mailing under "Configuration"/"eMailing Header"/"List-Help-Link for Transaction Mail". A default URL can also be stored in the same place in the e-mailing template.
The CSA (Certified Senders Alliance) checks the correct implementation and application of the headers and landing pages.
Categories of transactional mails without promotional content:
- Registration and registration confirmation
- Order and shipment notifications
- Invoices
- Confirmation of incoming returns
- Password reminders, requests and changes
- Status messages
- Double-Opt-In-Mails
- Changes to the General Terms and Conditions
Further details can be found in the ECOS guide.
Alternative logoff scenarios
If a special unsubscribe logic is required, the list-unsubscribe unsubscribe link can be replaced by a webhook in the future. This will be set up by SC-Networks.
