A pool alias is a pool derivation of a globally created pool into a local client pool. The locally created pool alias only contains profiles from the global pool that have a specific value of a single selection field.
Here, profiles of the global pool are mirrored into a local pool alias using a split criterion as soon as these profiles have a certain selection characteristic (split criterion). If a profile is assigned this split criterion, it is displayed in the local client. You cannot change the selection characteristic of the profile in the local client. You can edit some of the profiles locally, but it is also possible to prevent the profiles from being edited at all. If the selection characteristic that was specified as the split criterion in the global pool is removed from the profile or the split criterion is changed, the profile disappears from the pool alias. Import into a local pool alias is not supported.
However, it is possible to export the profiles. A pool alias is comparable to a simple target group that contains profiles with a single selection characteristic. Usually a pool alias is used, for example, to distribute profiles of an international company to its national subsidiaries, thus avoiding multiple data storage.
A field that serves as a split criterion must be of the type single selection field; a pool alias can only access this field. You cannot delete profiles from a pool alias.
Global pool - profile list
If a global pool is created in a group with several clients, this pool can be made available for pool aliases of the clients. A selected value from a single selection field is used as a split criterion.
Local client - pool alias
All profiles in the global pool that have the specified split criterion automatically appear in the pool alias of the local client. If this criterion is removed from the profile, the profile disappears from the pool alias. The value of the split criterion can only be edited in the global pool.
Requirements for a pool alias
- Data pool on a global level
- Release for pool alias
- Field of type Single-selection field
- Multiple local clients
Since the implementation of a pool alias means an increased consulting and programming effort, please contact one of our employees if you are interested.
Hide pool fields for individual clients
In the global master pool, individual pool fields can be hidden for individual pools. The hidden fields are then no longer available in the corresponding clients (e.g. for forms).
