The blacklist is a block list to exclude certain eMail addresses or complete domains from eMailing. If you do not want e-mails to be sent to certain e-mail addresses, then put these e-mail addresses on the blacklist. This will exclude these email addresses from an emailing even if these email addresses are in the pool and the target group for an emailing. Before each sending, the e-mail addresses of the target group are checked with the blacklist.
In each dispatch object you can see under the tab Profiles how many eMail addresses of the dispatch were blocked by the blacklist.
If an e-mail address is on the blacklist, it is not possible to enter this e-mail address via a web form.
In addition to the blacklist in your client, the system offers a system-internal blacklist, on which most of the known spam traps are located, in order to exclude them from being sent.
In some cases it may be useful to exclude e-mail addresses from being sent, e.g. if it is the e-mail address of a competing company and you want to avoid that this recipient receives content from you. Or a recipient has complained to you about your newsletter because they unsubscribed from the newsletter and were still sent content. This can happen in some cases, such as when a profile re-entered the pool through a manual profile import. If this is the case, then put this email address on the blacklist to exclude a renewed delivery.
You can delete blacklist entries at any time. After an eMail address has been deleted from the blacklist, eMails will be delivered regularly again.
The blacklist works for each client across pools. This means that if an eMail address is on the blacklist and a profile with that eMail address is in pool "A" and/or in pool "B", eMail is sent to addresses from pool "B", no eMail is sent to that address, no matter from which pool it is sent.
Create blacklist entry
To create a blacklist entry, go to the folder navigation under Profiles and select the Blacklist entry. Click on the New entry button and enter the email address that you want to block from being sent. Alternatively you can exclude a complete domain from sending by entering e.g. @domain.de, so the whole domain is excluded from sending.
To prevent mails from being sent to certain email addresses or entire domains, they can be placed on the blacklist, in which case these email addresses will not be sent to.
Optionally, you can enter a comment to have a clue at a later time why the respective entry was created. Click on Save after entering the entry. The blacklist entry is effective immediately - regular emailings will no longer be sent to this address(es). It is not possible to enter a listed eMail address via a form. This can be used to deactivate the use of the blacklist in the e-mailing template, e.g. to send to existing profiles that already existed as profiles before the blacklisting. An entry on the blacklist is billed in the cost accounting as a profile in the pool.
You can blacklist email addresses for the following reasons:
- To not share any of your content with competing companies.
- If the recipient has complained about your mailing
- To avoid spam traps
